Air Hamburg History

Originally the two young entrepreneurs Floris Helmers and Alexander Lipsky conducted their FLIGHT SCHOOL HAMBURG and enlarged it in the last years. Frequently the two were asked more often not only for flying hours, but for sightseeing and taxi flights to the North and East Frisian Islands. Because of that the company was extended with the name AIR HAMBURG with single and twin-engined aircrafts for sightseeing- and island flights in 2005.

Not only the FLIGHT SCHOOL also the airline is attached to a personal note. So the managing directors usually cooperate in the operational company. The island flight plan was extended a long time ago: Besides Sylt, the destinations reached out to Helgoland, Juist and Norderney.

„We got more and more charter inquiries to destinations, which could not be offered with the fleet for the island air traffic due to the limited range“, Helmers remembers. The result of this development was the logical step for the establishment of the brand AIR HAMBURG Private Jets with comfortable business jets, which are positioned at the airport Hamburg. Now the customers can constantly use the flexible jet flights at every time they want, 365 days a year.

Directly next to the general aviation centre (GAT) at the airport Hamburg, AIR HAMBURG conducts the Café HIMMELSSCHREIBER. This was mainly created to offer an exclusive lounge for the jet customers before takeoff. In addition to that, the Café HIMMELSSCHREIBER serves the private jet customers with an exquisite catering. Located very close to the runway and taxiways, the Café can also be rented for private parties, like weddings or business events, with high-quality catering from its own manufacturing.
